We stick to strict IP (Ingress Protection) ratings because if a seal fails, moisture will bridge the gap between the live wire and the ground. And that&amp;rsquo;s a problem you don&amp;rsquo;t want.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The trade-offs you should know about&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Here&amp;rsquo;s the thing about high-wattage shortwave lamps: they get &lt;em&gt;hot&lt;/em&gt;. Really hot.&#xA;While the insulation handles the electricity, that intense heat can eventually dry out cheap rubber seals, leading to cracks. It&amp;rsquo;s a good idea to peek at those gaskets every few years just to make sure they&amp;rsquo;re still supple.&#xA;We usually suggest halogen-filled quartz tubes because they warm up your bathroom almost instantly. Just keep in mind they run hotter than other options. Give your ceiling void plenty of breathing room so you aren&amp;rsquo;t scorching the surrounding structure.&#xA;One last tip: use moisture-resistant cabling and&lt;/strong&gt;always install a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter)**on the circuit.
