If you’ve spent any time on a PET blow molding line, you know the drill. Your floor is a patchwork quilt of different brands and machines from three different decades. It’s a mess. Then, a lamp burns out. Suddenly, you’re staring at a dead line, wondering if a replacement will actually fit or if you’re about to spend the next six hours rewiring the entire oven. We stick to R7s and SK15 connectors. Why? Because they’re the old reliable workhorses of the industry. By staying with these specs, you can swap lamps across different brands without messing with your sockets. Plus, we keep them in stock. You don’t have to wait weeks for a proprietary OEM part to ship while your production targets slip away. Getting the Heat Right To get PET preforms soft enough to blow quickly, you need a serious punch of heat. We spec our tubes for high wattage at the voltages you’re already running (220V to 400V). It’s all about that concentrated burst of short-wave radiation. It hits the plastic hard and fast, so you can keep your cycle times low without wasting energy heating up the metal frame of your machine. The Heavy Lifting We use heavy-wall quartz glass. It’s tough. It stops the filaments from sagging when things get scorching hot inside the oven. Some of our tubes also have special coatings. This helps push the heat into the center of the preform instead of just burning the outside. It’s the difference between a perfect bottle and a scorched one. But here’s the thing: high-density lamps put a lot of stress on your oven. If you crank the wattage to max out your production speed, just keep an eye on your cooling fans. If they can’t move the extra heat, you might warp your lamp holders. You don’t need to spend your life chasing OEM parts. Just use a spec that fits your footprint, plug it in, and keep the line moving.
