
Keeping Bathrooms Warm Without Blinding Everyone
When we build our infrared heaters, we’re thinking about the bathroom—which is basically a steam room. It’s a tough place for electronics. But if you’re putting a heater in a room where babies or kids are hanging out, the real challenge isn’t even the heat. It’s the light.
That annoying glare
You know that harsh, blinding light some heaters put out? It’s a pain. It strains your eyes and it’s just too much for a relaxing shower or a baby’s bath. We fixed that by tweaking the filaments and using specific quartz glass. Instead of a blinding flash, you get a soft, warm glow. You still get all the heat you need to stay warm, but without the “staring into a spotlight” feeling.
Dealing with steam and splashes
Water and electricity are a bad mix. That’s why we go with an IP55 rating. In plain English? It means the housing is sealed tight against dust and water sprays. No steam getting into the wiring, no short circuits. But there’s a catch. Since the unit is sealed up tight to keep water out, the heat can get trapped inside the box. Just make sure wherever you mount it has a bit of room to breathe. If it gets too hot inside, a safety fuse will trip to keep the plastic from warping.
A few tips for the install
These are great if you’re swapping out those old-school heaters that just blow warm air. Infrared is different—it warms you and the walls, not the air. It feels faster. Much faster. One quick heads-up on the wiring: these tubes pull a lot of power the second you flip the switch. Double-check your breakers. You don’t want to be halfway through a shower only to have the power trip because the circuit couldn’t handle the initial surge.
